Fishing Cottage in Lot-et-Garonne
Looking for a fishing cottage in Lot-et-Garonne? Department 47, at the confluence of the Lot and the Garonne, offers exceptional natural conditions for anglers of all levels. Gîte du Martin Pêcheur is in Aiguillon, a few steps from the Lot, in a preserved rural setting where nature and tranquillity are everywhere. Among Lot-et-Garonne cottages, ours stands out for its direct access to the river. Here, no traffic noise or overlooking neighbours: just birdsong, the murmur of the river and the promise of memorable fishing sessions.
The Lot-et-Garonne department, nestled between Bordeaux and Toulouse, is one of the best-kept secrets in south-west France for passionate anglers. The Lot winds through rolling landscapes of limestone cliffs, floodplain meadows and riverside forests that support remarkable biodiversity. This variety of habitats translates into fish stocks that are uncommon in France: carp over 25 kg, catfish over 2 metres, pike, zander, perch and black bass share the clear, fish-rich waters of the Lot.

Aiguillon, the fishing capital of Lot-et-Garonne
At the confluence of the Lot and the Garonne, Aiguillon occupies a strategic position for anglers. This small town of character offers direct access to two major south-west rivers, multiplying fishing opportunities. The deep pools of the confluence hold exceptionally large catfish, while the meanders of the Lot upstream offer varied spots for carp and predators. Our cottage is ideally located at 730 Route de Villeneuve, with pedestrian access to the banks of the Lot from the garden. You go from the living room to the water’s edge in a few steps, without taking the car.
A land rich in stillwaters and rivers
Beyond the Lot, department 47 offers many complementary fishing venues. Lake Salabert, a few kilometres away, is a well-known carp water in a preserved woodland setting. The Garonne, reachable in about ten minutes, offers large-scale stretches for catfish and flowing-water predators. Streams and tributaries of the Lot also hold fine populations of trout and minnows, so you can vary the sport throughout your stay. This diversity makes Lot-et-Garonne a complete destination that can satisfy every type of angler for a full week or more.
Beyond fishing: the charm of Lot-et-Garonne
Lot-et-Garonne is not only about fishing. The department is famous for its gastronomy (Agen prunes, Cancon hazelnuts, Buzet and Côtes de Duras wines), its farmers’ markets and its charming medieval villages. From our cottage you can visit Villeneuve-sur-Lot and its old lanes, Bonaguil castle, the bastide of Monflanquin listed among France’s most beautiful villages, or the Prune Museum and the Hazelnut House. Outdoor activities such as canoeing, hiking on the hillsides and cycling along the Garonne canal fit perfectly with a fishing trip, especially for non-angling companions.

Why choose our lodge?
Our cottage is the only fishing accommodation in Aiguillon that offers a private pontoon directly on the Lot with capacity for 8 guests. Where other Lot-et-Garonne cottages mean driving to reach fishing spots, here you cast from the garden. Hamid, your host and passionate angler, knows every swim in the area and shares his knowledge generously: best spots by season, techniques suited to the flow, bait choice according to water temperature.
The cottage itself is designed for the comfort of anglers and their companions. The 140 m² offer generous space with 4 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms, a large living-dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. The enclosed 300 m² garden is ideal for children and pets. Barbecue, trampoline, canoe and paddle are available for relaxing between fishing sessions. All from 650 euros per week in low season—a value hard to match in the region.
“We stayed with Hamid and Bérangère for a carp fishing trip on the Lot! It was a wonderful stay in the cottage. Our children were thrilled, the fishing was very productive and Hamid and Bérangère are simply exceptional!”
