Carp on the Lot

Carp on the Lot at Aiguillon

The Lot river at Aiguillon offers an exceptional setting for carp fishing. The calm, deep waters of this river are home to a dense population of common, mirror and leather carp, with specimens regularly exceeding 20 kg. Our lodge, located directly on the banks of the Lot, gives you access to a private pontoon and prepared swims for 24 to 72-hour sessions in a preserved natural environment.

The Lot is renowned for the quality of its carp population. The river benefits from a rich ecosystem, moderate fishing pressure and varied beds (gravel, weed beds, deep holes) that offer diverse swims. The confluence with the Garonne, a few kilometres downstream from Aiguillon, creates currents and resting areas particularly favoured by large specimens. Night fishing is permitted here, a considerable advantage for carp anglers who know that the finest catches are often made between dusk and dawn.

How to fish carp on the Lot

The most effective techniques for carp in our Aiguillon area.

Boilie fishing

The premier technique for carp on the Lot. Long sessions with heavy baiting on identified spots. Hair rig on flat bottoms or margins. Effective day and night.

Method feeder

Ideal for short sessions or daytime fishing. The method feeder allows precise, concentrated baiting. Particularly effective in spring and autumn when carp are actively feeding on the bottom.

Stalking (sight fishing)

When conditions allow (clear water, calm weather), sight fishing on the margins is a thrilling approach. The shaded spots along the Lot banks are perfectly suited to this.

Zig rig

In summer, when carp rise to the surface, the zig rig is devastating. This technique requires patience and observation but can produce spectacular results on the Lot.
