The private pontoon is our fishing cottage’s trump card. Purpose-built for anglers, it offers direct, exclusive access to the Lot, 24 hours a day. Whether you are a carp angler on a long session, a catfish hunter after a fish of a lifetime or a lure-fishing predator enthusiast, the pontoon becomes your fishing headquarters. No more driving to crowded public stretches: here your swim is at the end of the garden, reserved exclusively for cottage guests.
The idea of a private fishing pontoon came from our own experience as anglers. How often have we lost time looking for a free swim, carrying gear hundreds of metres or giving up a night session because the accommodation was too far away? The pontoon at Gîte du Martin Pêcheur was designed to remove those frustrations. Its position on the Lot was chosen to give access to several types of swim: a pool downstream, a weed bed opposite and a wooded margin upstream. That diversity lets you vary approaches without even moving.

The pontoon at Gîte du Martin Pêcheur is not a decorative jetty. It was designed, sized and fitted to meet real angling needs. Its width comfortably fits 2 to 3 side-by-side spots with enough space between each rod pod to avoid tangles. The stable, flat floor easily accommodates bivvy, level chair and bait boat. Outdoor sockets let you recharge bite alarms, sounders and bait boats without going back to the cottage. Discreet lighting is available for night sessions—soft enough not to spook fish but bright enough to handle gear safely.
The swims reachable from the pontoon
The pontoon’s strategic position on the Lot opens several distinct fishing situations. Dense weed beds are prime feeding areas for carp, especially productive from spring to autumn. Natural pools downstream concentrate catfish and zander, drawn by currents carrying baitfish. Wooded margins with submerged trees and natural rock offer perfect ambush spots for pike and black bass. This habitat diversity lets you target different species from a single point, with no boat or travel required.
Night sessions from the pontoon
Night fishing is one of the great advantages of our private pontoon. Allowed on our stretch of the Lot, it lets you use the most intense feeding periods, especially for carp and catfish. With the pontoon about thirty metres from the cottage, you can set your bivvy by the water while staying close to facilities. Bite alarms can be heard from the garden, and a receiver monitor can be set up in the cottage on colder nights. This unique setup gives you the best of both worlds: full night-fishing immersion and a heated cottage a few steps away.

Our pontoon is reserved exclusively for cottage guests, which guarantees peace for your sessions and security for gear left in place between goes. Beyond the pontoon, the 140 m² cottage provides everything you need for a successful stay. The 4 bedrooms sleep up to 8, the equipped kitchen lets you self-cater, and the enclosed 300 m² garden with barbecue is perfect for convivial moments between anglers. Hamid, your host, is a passionate angler and knows every swim reachable from the pontoon. He will guide you on the best baiting and line-placement strategies for current conditions.

Is the pontoon reserved exclusively for guests?
Yes, the pontoon is private and reserved solely for cottage occupants. No one else has access during your stay, which ensures quiet sessions and security for your gear.
Can you set up a bivvy on the pontoon?
Yes, the pontoon and its surroundings are set up for bivvy, level chair and rod pod. There is enough space for 2 to 3 simultaneous spots in comfort.
Is there electricity at the pontoon?
Yes, outdoor sockets are installed near the pontoon. They let you recharge bite alarms, sounders, phones and bait boats without returning to the cottage.
What fish can you catch from the pontoon?
The pontoon gives access to a weed bed (carp), a pool (catfish, zander) and a wooded margin (pike, black bass). That diversity lets you target almost all Lot species from one point.
Is the pontoon suitable for night sessions?
The pontoon is especially suited to night fishing: night fishing allowed, discreet lighting available, cottage 30 m away. You can watch your rods from the garden or set up a remote receiver in the cottage.
