Predators on the Lot

Predators on the Lot at Aiguillon

The Lot offers an exceptional playground for predator fishing enthusiasts. Pike, zander, perch and black bass coexist in waters rich in structure and varied spots. From our lodge in Aiguillon, you have direct access to kilometres of banks and spots where these predators thrive. The weed beds, rocky areas and current zones of the Lot create an ideal habitat for quality predators.

The Lot, in its section between Villeneuve-sur-Lot and Aiguillon, presents a diversity of environments that benefits predators: current areas for zander, cluttered margins for pike, calm areas with weed beds for black bass, and gravel beaches for perch. The moderate fishing pressure, coupled with good fishery management, maintains balanced populations with quality specimens. The presence of black bass, still rare in many regions, is a major asset of the Lot.

How to fish predators on the Lot

The most effective techniques for predators in our Aiguillon area.

Spinning

The versatile technique par excellence. Soft lures, jerkbaits, crankbaits, the choice is vast depending on the target species and season. Ideal for exploring the Lot banks from the pontoon or by boat.

Casting

For cluttered spots and precision casting under trees and into weed beds. Casting allows you to work large lures with great precision. The premier technique for pike in summer.

Live bait fishing

Lines set on the margins with live bait (roach, gudgeon). A passive but devastatingly effective technique for pike and zander, especially in autumn and winter when predators are less mobile.

Drop-shot and finesse

Essential finesse techniques for zander and perch. Drop-shot allows you to present a soft lure directly above drop-offs and deep holes. Very effective in cold water.
